More Than A Number-Pt. 2; Talking Heart2Heart

Why Are We In A Hurry to Grow up

Why Are We In A Hurry to Grow up?

As a child, wishing to be older seems harmless, but any uncontrolled behavior will eventually cause you harm in one form or another. This type of mind-set rolls over into adulthood because of the misconception of age and the lack of understanding. I hear many say, “I can’t wait until I’m 18 or 21.” The two ages are crucial to adulthood because this is when you’re legally recognized as accountable adults. But many are far from being adults based on their knowledge and understanding about adulthood and being responsible adults. The knowledge is not grasped, so the lack of understanding that age is more than a number is still (MIA) missing in action. This shows that adult age does not make you an adult, it’s the level of maturity which qualifies you an adult.

Grown is your mindset

Adulthood has NOTHING to do with your age…

There are many adult people who act like children.

Ephesians 4:26 “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” Apparently, several lessons during the growing years were missed, so immaturity is the result. It’s sad to say that there are adults who are focused on reaching older ages more than being present and squeezing everything out of the current age. There seems to be a great plan all worked out in your mind, but the plan never makes it any further than the lips because it lacks execution. This childhood behavior creeps over into adulthood when maturity levels are not mastered. 1 Corinthians 14:20 “Do not be like children in your thinking, my friends; be children so far as evil is concerned, but be grown up in your thinking.” Every lesson learned from mistakes during childhood and adulthood, leaves lasting experiences branded into your memory for later use.

Wise Decisions

Making Wise Decisions Is A Sign of Maturity…

There’s no certain time set in stone when maturity should be reached, but hopefully this is the goal in mind. But if you continue to rush through years hoping the next age will be better, you will miss years of lessons and experiences. By allowing this to happen, you will spend time playing catch up and with that comes regret. Don’t place the importance on a number because age is definitely more than a number. The lesson is how you choose to live life, and how you embrace love, peace, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self-control and faithfulness. This is the fruits of the spirit. Galatians 5:22 “But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us”

Now, it’s impossible to go back to learn what you missed at any age but start now.

God Loves You, and It's Never too Late to CHANGE DIRECTIONS...

God Loves You, and It’s Never too Late to CHANGE DIRECTIONS…

God has a plan for your life, but are you willing to accept it? Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Getting in touch with your inner being is key to discovering your true purpose in life in the moment. When you learn to be present at your current age, the warmth of contentment gives you such an amazing comfort. It also enlightens your understanding enough to appreciate each passing year and enjoying it to the fullest. Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right are pleasures forevermore.” Being open and willing to learn from others as well as your own experiences will allow you to observe life from a different perspective.

Change is Available to All…

Change is never comfortable, but more often than not it is necessary. When you step outside of your comfort zone, it brings a sense of excitement mixed with the unknown, and that sparks a great expectation as your outlook on life changes. Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” While no one is perfect, striving to be a better person puts you on the path to success and in doing so it’s a testament to your life as you grow in grace. 2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen”  When you accept change, it’s a clear sign of MATURITY no matter what age. As mentioned before, age is more than a number. There is a time for all things, and God wants us to grow and mature physically in the natural as well as in the spirit. Trust God to lead you in the right direction, and you will receive everything he has for you. You can TRUST GOD with your life because he loves you.
