More Than A Number-Pt. 1; Talking Heart2Heart

Age Is More Than A Number

Age Is More Than A Number

I often wonder why the thought of being older seems to be a common thought for many starting from an early age? I guess it’s the bigger number that attracts the young mind. No matter what generation you are a member of, this is one thing that all have in common. Whatever the current age, it was never old enough to accomplish the task at hand. When you finally reach the next age, in just a few months the cycle began again. Once again the mind moves anxiously toward the next age, with very little time to appreciate the newly present age. It’s obvious that the young mind wants what it wants no matter what because of the lack of understanding and don’t really care attitude. 1 Corinthians 13:11 “ When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.” Even beyond the tender years I think it’s safe tosay, that very few recognize that age is more than a number. There are several lessons hidden deep within every age to prepare you for life in the real world.

You and Your Age...

You and Your Age are Stuck Together For a Year>>>TO MATURE…

As I look back at my childhood days I’m reminded of my own experiences, and how enticing the next age was to me. Every year I was wishing to be older and never grateful for the present age at the time. It was the glamour of the activity one seemed to enjoy, and it happened to be at an older age. We were affected by the influence of our environment and surroundings. 1 John 2:16 “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” While we were wishing to be older, the thought of responsibility or accountability never crossed our minds because of limited understanding. Many placed the emphasis on the number, as the lack of knowledge prevents one to understand that age is more than a number.

More Than

More Than A >>> #

The present age was never quite old enough because in your mind being older wassomehow better. Perhaps, you thought if you were older then you would become a different person, but that was an illusion. Since you and your age are stuck together for a year, why not embrace it by absorbing all it has to offer. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Gaining knowledge at every age is very important to your well-being and overall growth. This is the basis for age, and it’s why you need an entire year to soak up every ounce of knowledge possible. When you wish to be older, you miss out on moments at that age that can never be recovered. So age is more than a number because it’s a time for lessons and experiences to prepare you for the next age.  As you approach adulthood, the need for such lessons are key to this journey called life as you grow in grace.

The Merry-Go-Round; Talking Heart2Heart

Life on a Merry-Go-Round will end negatively because of the speed...

Life on a Merry-Go-Round will end negatively because of the speed…

The Merry-Go-Round is a ride that many enjoyed during childhood, but also known to make you dizzy because of the speed. Living life at the speed of a merry-go-round ride can make you dizzy as well. It’s symbolic to the way many live their lives. Some live for the moment, not giving any thought to how today’s decision affects the outcome of next month. This happens when your sights are put on the daily whirlwind of distractions that can blind side you before you are aware of it. Even during these times, God will send someone to help you get off of that merry-go-round ride of life. If you humble yourself, and accept the help to arrest that impulsive spirit you can be freed from your (Egypt) bondage. Bondage is anything that controls your life with an inevitable outcome of disaster.

The Merry-Go-Round reminds me of a story in the bible about the children of Israel. Moses was chosen by God to lead them out of (Egypt) bondage. God not only freed them, but they left Egypt with silver, gold, and health. These people had been slaves all their lives but walked out of bondage as Kings and Priests. God instantly changed their status. What a Mighty God!

Moses, the Chosen one to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt...

Moses, the Chosen one to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt…

As Moses followed God, the people were to follow him and trust God. Exodus 33:14 “The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” They left Egypt on a high note of singing and praising, but before long they were complaining. God delivered them from the hands of Pharaoh by splitting the Red Sea. They walked through as God held back the massive ocean waters without one fish losing its life in the process. Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, the will not sweep over you.”

This wasn’t enough for these people, then

This time Moses disobeys God, and he strikes the rock instead of speaking to it as commanded...

This time Moses disobeys God, and he strikes the rock instead of speaking to it as commanded…

God sent (manna) food from heaven. Numbers 14:27 “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which  they murmur against me.” They would praise him once again after seeing the move of God, but still they had NO faith. This time God instructed Moses to speak to the rock and water would come forth. But Moses allowed this ungrateful group of people to frustrate him, and he disobeyed God and struck the rock. Because Moses disobeyed God he would never be allowed to walk into the promise land.

The journey was a short one, but they were on a merry-go-round and round and round they went for 40 years. Numbers 14:22-23 “Because all  those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I aware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:”

Even though the journey was an eleven day trip, they made the choice to hop on the merry-go-round and round and round they continued to go. Their disobedience kept them on that merry-go-round, so they continued to travel in circles for 40 years. Many of you are on a merry-go-round in your life today because you refuse to obey the will that God has for your life. Jeremiah 29:11”For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

God has chosen someone to minister, support, help, advise, and lead you out of your (Egypt). Your Egypt may be a relationship, friendship, choices, impulsiveness, carelessness, reckless behavior, or your attitude. It could be anything that causes you to reject and/or disobey God. Luke 10:16 “The person who listens to you listens to Me. Whoever rejects you rejects Me. And whoever rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.” God has a plan for each and everyone, and that plan was ordained for you. But the plan will be given unto a willing and submissive spirit.

gods plan to youIf you fail to follow Gods’ plan, you will end up just like the children of Israel. You will be on the merry-go-round until you are exhausted, but you won’t reach your appointed destination. The first generation of the Israel children died and never saw the promise land because of their disobedience. They never reached the appointed destination God gave unto them.

God opens doors for you, and he makes a way out of no way as he did for the children of Israel, yet you continue to reject him by doing things your way. Romans 9:16 “So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy.” God sends different ones to help you, encourage you, advise you and even instruct you. But you insist that you know what’s best, so you make your decision based on your knowledge. But your inexperience is real, and your decision back fires on you. Now you have to crawl back to the very one God sent to you. Proverbs 4:7-8 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her.”

Even if you feel you have the right to make your own decision, just know the outcome of that decision will affect others. So is it fair to others to suffer the affect caused by an immature, impulsive, know-it-all person? The answer is NO. Why should someone come to your rescue when you ignored their advice and insisted doing things your way? When your decision comes back and smacks you in the face, you should stand their and take it. Until you face your demons which very often resides inside, you will continue to fall on your face.

No one knows everything, so remain teachable and learn from others. Proverbs 4:10 “Hear, O my son/daughter, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.” Many reach success upon the back of other successful people. Proverbs 4:20-21 “My son/daughter, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.”

Learning the ways of a successful person is stepping stones of guidance for you, or a direct path. But if you are one, who refuses to receive wisdom, guidance, or advice from one who has experienced life, you most likely will be spending time on the merry-go-round in life. Don’t be that person going around and round the same mountain in life, yet you expect to reach your destination successfully. Everyone needs help on this journey called life, so don’t reject help from someone with a sincere heart. A support system is a blessing to have, so be grateful to the blessings in your life.

You can finally get off that merry-go-round of chaos and enjoy the FREEDOM by following God’s plan.
