Moving Forward…Talking Heart2Heart

Moving Forward…Not Going Back

In 2013, many struggled to make a living just to stay afloat but continued to fall farther and farther behind. You might have felt like you were drowning, but you managed to keep your head barely above water. You tackled situation after situation and still it resulted unsuccessful. The disappointments, set-backs, bad decisions and constant growth of debt was a nightmare. Perhaps, it’s time to change the way you look at life, and focus on succeeding at life. With that being said, you can’t live in the past and expect to move forward into the future. You are literally spinning your wheels, yet you are expecting to gain distance. Where is the logic?

It appears that you lack the skills needed to make logical decisions. For example, you’ve been working a new job for about 3 weeks, and you have this bright idea to buy a new car. So an experienced person shares advice and explains the importance of job stability before making financial decisions. You accept the advice and change your mind about buying the car. This decision lacks the very basic skill which is COMMON SENSE. Not to mention, a week or 2 later there was a layoff, so Thank God you didn’t buy the car. Your thought process must be that of common sense or at least logic if you want to move forward.

Look ahead, and imagine yourself living a successful life. Remember, success is not based on finances only. It’s finding your true self, and your purpose in life. There is no limit to who you can become as you strive to reach your potential. This will take a great deal of work and discipline. Are you up for the challenge? This is a new year, and 2014 is your chance to start fresh with a realistic plan as well as a positive attitude, and faith in the word of God. Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” This is God’s year to act in your life, but you must trust him.

Luke 4:19 (AMP) “To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.” You can direct your life by focusing on what you want, and God will help you reach your expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” You can start by concentrating on your goals, and setting time frames to reach them, but be realistic. It’s important to have a plan that shows how you plan to reach your goals, and it’s especially important to follow the plan.

This process will not be easy, and you may even struggle with it at first. There may even be times you feel like giving up. When this happens just take a deep breath, then continue with your plan with full force. You must declare that you are moving forward. Job 22:28 (KJV) “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.”

When you are determined to do something, you will succeed because failing is no longer an option for you. By now you should be the first to say “been there, done that, and bought the tee-shirt,” and now you are only moving forward. It would benefit you to associate yourself with someone who is already successful. A mentor is a good idea, if you are willing to listen and learn from their success. If someone offers to share their knowledge, don’t insult them by debating your point. Proverbs 12:15 “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who listens to counsel is wise.” Remember, their success speaks for itself, and you want to gain their knowledge with the hope of applying it to your life.

When moving forward, you must look at your life and make adjustments. You have to leave your past behind and only use it as a learning tool. Because if you are going to move forward, you can no longer dwell on your past mistakes, opinions of others, excuses, drama, failures, or bad relationships. Moving forward is very demanding, and you are the deciding factor of your growth. You have to change the way you think, act, and how you live your life. You have to want to succeed bad enough to let nothing stop your progress. Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high call of God in Christ Jesus.”  If you can relate to this topic, please leave your comments below.
