Black and White, It’s Real; Talking Heart2Heart

In 2008 America elected a black man as the President of the United States. President Barack Obama made history as the American dream unfolded right before our eyes. I am speaking from the view of a person of color, so I feel safe saying this was the first glimpse of the world-changing from the obvious black and white and all the wrong as we knew it. I must say the world has changed, but there is still an issue of black and white and the wrong that continues to linger in our court system. The justice for all in our court system rarely shows up for people of color in this great country of ours. It’s real, and it must be dealt with.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been told that America is the land of the free, and the home of the brave. I was taught the pledge of allegiance at an early age which states, “I  pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” This salute is set in stone to represent the unity, pride, loyalty and justice of our country toward all. So any injustice in our system is wrong on every level. Galatians 3:8 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

We elect officials to represent all people by implementing laws, policies, legislature, and constitutions to make sure fairness to all, but this is not always the case. Isaiah 10:1 “Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed.America has a black and white issue, but it’s been somewhat under cover, but it’s real. Although we have made some progress on the subject of equality over the past 30 years, now it seems we have come to a stand still which appears to resemble a state of regression.

As young black unarmed males are gunned down by white armed males, the issue of black and white and right and wrong will remain at the forefront of our justice system, or the lack there of. This issue is causing division in this country where supposedly opportunities are endless and dreams come true. It is difficult to grasp this idea when our laws favor a certain group of people, so how is it possible for any person of color to believe that opportunities are at arms reach.

Some laws favor a certain group of people, while it disfavors another, for example, the Stand Your Ground Law. It has become a scapegoat of self-defense on the grounds of murder excluding people of color. This didn’t work for a person of color (a black woman in Florida) who fired warning shots in the air to stop her abusive husband. She received 20 years for firing warning shots. While on the other hand, in the same state two (17 year old black unarmed males) were shot and killed by two different white armed males. One of the white males received a (NOT GUILTY VERDICT). The other white male received 20 years for attempted murder for each of the (3) other teenagers in the same car with the murdered (17 year olds), but the jury couldn’t convict the white male for his murder. So how clear is this black and white issue to you? Anyone who thinks otherwise is in a state of denial or pure ignorance.

The Stand Your Ground Law is based on a person feeling threaten in anyway, and this gives them the right to shoot first and ask questions later. James 4:17 “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” This law needs immediate attention because it threaten the life of every black male in every state where this law is in effect, it doesn’t look so good for black females either. The bases of this law is just wrong rather you be black, white, or striped. There is NO JUSTICE for the victim as this law currently stands. This is a serious problem, and it’s real.

Free Yourself; Talking Heart2Heart

You have the power to "FREE YOURSELF" from the stresses of life.

You have the power to “FREE YOURSELF” from the stresses of life.

We live in a time where many seem to be overwhelmed with the stresses of life. Dealing with family issues, relationship issues, work related issues, or everyday living, takes a great deal of energy. With that being said, many are unable to deal with these issues in a calm way, and the stress of it all can take a toll on you. Psalm 55:22 “Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not let the godly to slip and fall.” So you must find a way to free yourself of the overpowering pressure or stress of the issues of life. The bottom line about being able to “free yourself” is taking control of any and all situations that may occur in your life. It’s also a loud and clear message that you are not willing to give up without a fight.

I know saying “free yourself” may be easier said than done, but it is definitely possible. This is the only way to regain control of your life. It’s important to take control of the issue, and the way to do that is by attacking the root of the problem. If you can find the reasoning behind the problems in your life, then you can deal with it directly. First, by finding the cause of the disruption, and then by coming up with a solution to the problem. Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Some problems may or may not be by any fault of yours, but at this point that’s not important. Hebrews 4:16 “Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may get mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Nonetheless, you must be willing to face the problem head on. You must also be willing to take responsibility for any self-induced part of the problem. As you take ownership, you are taking control of the situation. This puts you on the road to recovery because of your ability to assess the situation with rational thought.

This process helps you to “free yourself” of the pressure of the situation because it releases your mind from playing the blame game. The blame game is a game that many play over and over in their head, and it keeps you stuck in the place of no way out. Your only way out is to face the issue and move on. By doing this, you can focus on ways of rectifying the situation. It also allows you to have a clear view of how you got to this point and to never return here again. When you are honest with yourself about life issues, it’s more likely than not that you can sum this mishap up as a learning experience. Are you feeling the pressure from the issues of life? I would like to hear your take on the subject of “Free Yourself,” so leave comments below.

Rediscover, The Self; Talking Heart2Heart

finding yourself

Rediscover the self you know you are meant to be….

As you stroll through life, at times things may seem to feel a little awkward. It’s a feeling of not yourself, but you can’t figure out why. It’s as if you are walking around in a daze, or watching someone else occupy your space in your life. I know it sounds a bit weird, but this feeling is just as weird. All you know at this point is, you are not yourself, and you don’t know how to get out of this rut. You try to shake the feeling, but it’s overpowering. Matthew 10:39 “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” You conclude that you have somehow lost yourself in the midst of living life, but you have to find a way to rediscover the self you know.

While living life, you can experience many pulls from all directions at one time. You may feel that it’s you against family, friends, relationships, and career just to name a few of the areas of pressure. Sometimes this can become a bit much, or a better word might be overwhelming. This can happen when you fail to prioritize your life. You lose yourself in certain situations, but you don’t realize it until the pressure is upon you. It’s important to put things in perspective so that they suit your life in a positive way. “Philippians 4:9 “Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”

It’s time to look at your life and make the changes to find the self you are meant to be. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” In the process of reviving the self, you must regain your focus on your set goals. You may have to narrow your circle of activities to open your view of success ahead. Your attitude is very important to your success.

As you set your mind upon your goals, your discipline and determination will get your expected outcome. While traveling this road of success, you finally realize the real self has reappeared and with it peace and comfort. 1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” Is life situations preventing you from finding the self you are supposed to be?
