Life of the Family Slips Away; Talking Heart2Heart

Life slips away in the distance

Life of the Family Slips Away in the Distance…

I agree with the title of Fantasias’ book, “Life is not a Fairytale,” because if you don’t have God and family you are failing at life. God created the first family by way of Adam and Eve and earthly families were to pattern afterwards. Genesis 2:22 “And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Many are failing the test of life when it comes to being honorable family members. Our families are rapidly decreasing in numbers while we sat back and do nothing to change the dynamics of family. Our children grow up not knowing family members because families are distant geographically and emotionally. We are no longer interacting as families, and this is disheartening. As the life of the family slips away, it’s essential to reconnect with family.

What happened to the summer “Family Reunions” of yesterday? It was a great gathering that was planned months in advance to attend because it strengthened, empowered, and reassured us of who we were and from where we came. It was the history of our family roots that kept us connected. After all we shared a blood line, names, features, characteristics, and personalities that ran so deep, it was impossible to pin-point where the blood line started. Now, family is not highly esteemed at all, so the importance of family appears to be withering away.

How did we get to a such a selfish place in our lives? We are so busy making a living that we don’t have the time to truly live. We forget about family which is one of the most important aspects of life. Many families follow the instruction in (Genesis 1:28) “Be fruitful, and multiple, and replenish [fill] the earth,” but afterwards many go their separate ways. When family members lose contact, the strength of the family is altered. It also weakens the foundational bond of unity, security, and support. Before you realize the devastation of the effect of the weaken state of the family, you are face to face with a heartbreak of a family member passing away unexpectedly.

The reality of losing loved ones can hit you like a ton of bricks. It crashes into you with a mighty force so strong that it takes your breath. The force has so much power that it literally shakes your world upside down. Life is not to be reckoned with because it’s slipping away every second of the day. Yet we are in such turmoil with our everyday lives that we don’t take the time to reconnect with each other. Let’s revive our families by vowing to be a part of positive interaction that will strengthen the base of the family. Don’t let distance separate you from your family members because this allows mishaps to catch you off guard. Will you make an effort to reconnect with your family?
